Key Area 2: Instructional Design and Learning Environments
A composer designs a piece of music through a thoughtful arrangement of notes, rests, tempos, and dynamics. Many elements contribute to a great composition. These must be planned, played time and again, and changed many times before a composer is satisfied. In the same way, good instruction is created when the design is meticulously thought out. The ADDIE model of instructional design teaches us to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate our instruction. As educators, we want instruction that meets the needs of our students. Continuous assessment is important as well. If something is not working, we must go back and revise our original work until we reach satisfaction.

As part of a team, I helped to devise an instructional design plan for training educators in the use of FrontPage software.
Principles of Learning: Motivating Students
In this research paper, I explain how technology integration promotes learning. By designing lessons with technology, teachers may create engaging lessons and motivate students to learn.

The following links take you to two discussion boards that I put together. In my own personal experiences in the TET program and through a course on distance learning systems and design, I have found that learning in distance education relies heavily on social cognition.
