BASIC COMPUTER USE
  1. Identify the following computer parts: monitor, tower, keyboard, mouse, and speakers
  2. Turn computer on/off
  3. Log on/off to school network (type username and password)
  4. Identify desktop and icons
  5. Point and click
  6. Single/double click
  7. Left/right click
  8. Click and drag
  9. Open/close programs
  10. Minimize/maximize screens

 

 

ETHICS AND SAFETY
  1. Carefully handle computer parts
  2. Ask permission to use the Internet
  3. Prepare the computer for the next user

 

KEYBOARDING
  1. Identify “home row” of the keyboard
  2. Proper right and left hand placement
  3. Proper typing posture (sit up, feet on the floor)
  4. Use of the following keys: the alphabet and numbers, Enter, Backspace, Caps Lock, and the space bar

 

GRAPHICS
  1. Identify tool bar
  2. Use graphic tools
  1. Math:  Create a picture using only the geometric shapes.  Sign your name using the paintbrush.

 

WORD PROCESSING
  1. Format text (size, color, style, and font
  2. Type text
  3. Copy and Paste
  4. Align text (left, right, center)
  5. Space text using space bar and Enter
  6. Add clip art
  7. Add word art
  8. Print documents
  9. Save documents to user name
  10. Close program
  1. Language Arts (English):  Type a document about yourself, including the following: name, age, birthday, family members, likes and dislikes.  Use capitalization and punctuation.
  2. Language Arts (Creative Writing):  Type the fictional story (previously written in class).  Include a Paint document to illustrate your story.

 

RESEARCH
  1. Open/close the Internet
  2. Identify the Home Page
  3. Identify the address bar
  4. Type a URL in the address bar
  5. Identify/use Back and Forward buttons
  6. Perform a search using http://www.Yahooligans.com
  7. Identify/use hyperlinks
  8. Print documents
  1. Social Studies:  Using http://www.Yahooligans.com,  search for pictures of American symbols.  Print two pictures.  Color and cut out pictures to display on classroom bulletin board.

  1. Open/close Microsoft PowerPoint

  1. Science:  Create a PowerPoint presentation entitled “The Earth.”  Include backgrounds, text, and pictures.  Three slides are required.
  2. Science:  Create a PowerPoint presentation entitled “Weather.”  Include backgrounds, text, and pictures, and animation.  Three slides are required. 
  3. Science:  Create a PowerPoint presentation telling about the human body. Include backgrounds, text, and pictures, and animation.  Five slides are required.  Perform slide show presentation.
