                                               Statement of Goals

As I complete my Master’s program in Technology in Education, I am taking the time to reflect on all that I have learned in this past year and set goals for the upcoming year.  My participation in the Professional Development Center program (PDC) is what first led me to my graduate studies.  This program has shown me the power of good collaboration among educators.  Because I was mentored throughout my first year of teaching, I gained a better understanding of how building relationships with other educators and supporting one another contributes to school success.  In this next year, I hope to continue to work closely with others at my school.

The PDC program has also taught me the importance of reflection.  I used the reflection model to help me identify what did and did not work well in my classroom before making modifications; I wish to continue my work as a reflective practitioner.

Looking back at the experiences I gained through TET, I am excited to have more resources in which to integrate technology into my teaching.  I chose this degree because I wanted the tools and “know-how” for technology integration, and now I am more confident to combine technology with my lessons.  Having worked with programs such as Camtasia Studio, eZedia, OfficeFX, and Microsoft FrontPage, I plan to use my technology skills to enhance my teaching and engage my students.  After studying XHTML and authoring tools, I am also excited to obtain my very own web site in hopes that I will build better lines of communication with my students and their parents.

Finally, my TET studies have also given me confidence in the field of research.  I feel that it important that educators stay up-to-date on current issues affecting education.  Integrating more technology into the classroom is important especially now.  Through courses, I am better able to find good research on the Internet and understand it.  And by sharing my knowledge with my fellow educators, I can continue to grow as a teacher.
